Summer Vacation Plans? Why not Iceland...

One of my favorite get-a-ways has been Iceland.  A quick four-hour flight from NYC... and (on the return flight) you arrive back in the USA at the same time that you left Iceland.

How cool is that?

Most people ask me, “Why go there so often? Are you a lover of mountains of snow?”

Little do they know, Iceland is cold but temperate (although I did get to experience a little snow and some black ice on my third visit).

The moderate climate is the result of winds circulating from the Caribbean.  For a visual, check out the cool animation in Al Gore’s movie for details.

Iceland has great food, an interesting beer that reminds me of Fletcher’s Castoria* (and, as W.C. Fields might say, is good for what ails you... yes, yes...) and great shopping. And, of course, the Blue Lagoon.

My friend Daddi Gudbergsson created a great web site, Inspired by Iceland, that gives you all the details you need to know. Check out this video from Daddi’s web site to get a better idea of what this little-known paradise has to offer:
