The ALMOST Rebirth of Electra Woman and Dyna Girl

Electra Woman and Dyna Girl was a cheesey Saturday morning live-action series from the cheesey 1970’s. When the late WB network was looking for something to put on the air that wasn’t degrading to African-Americans, they commissioned a series that would be degrading to cheesey 1970’s Saturday morning TV.

They replaced Diedre Hall with Night Court star Markie Post and reimagined the character as an older vesion of herself who is a divorced alcoholic whose ex-husband ran off with Dynagirl. The story line involves a little girl rescued by Electra Woman who grows up to be the new Dyna Girl.

Despite the almost hard-core language, sexual humor and and crass humor, the series never made the cut and Sid & Marty Krofft went back into retirement. Probably if they had cast Wanda Sykes instead of Markie Post? Anyway... check out the unaired pilot in the two video widgets below:
