The Death of MySpace

I have one buddy who refuses to leave... so I go to visit him like every couple months. Is it almost like having a friend who has money, but still lives in the ghetto? LOL!

What Canada Told American Kids in the 60's

The USA wasn’t the only country sending it’s entertainment around the world. Our neighbors in the Great White North produced a little show called The Friendly Giant that was broadcast in choice markets. If you remember looking up... way up... every day after school, this will bring back memories.

He Forgot Obama was Black

Chris Matthews was so impressed by President Obama that he forgot that the President was an African-American. Huh? Check out the video clip below:

Then, on Rachel Maddow’s MSNBC program, Matthews explained what he meant. And, a lot of people prolly began to feel a bit better about what he had originally said. See it for yourself:

But then again... there are those who will say, “That’s one of those things that makes me go, Hmmmm...

This almost put me off bacon. Almost...

Eggs, bacon, toast and the fixings. This breakfast came alive and did a funky dance across the kitchen table. Or was it a kitschen table?

The OTHER Apple iPad

Leave it to the folks at MAD TV to make a monumentous technology announcement an absolutely cringeworthy experience. Check out the video below:

Remember that thing called Terrorism? Remember that beverage called Budweiser?

How this one slipped under the radar... I don’t know. But one thing for sure... the last thing it makes me think about is buying a beer...

Pass the Dutchie

I remember visiting an aunt before heading to the airport to leave the United States for Europe. This music video was playing on her television. Everyone was scratching their head wondering exactly what these kids were saying. Anyway, I reckon they are all fully grown adults now. Funny the things you remember...

R.I.P. Teddy Pendergrass

He was the soulful baritone who got women so excited, they would go into a frenzy. Reportedly women threw undergarments, keys, and other personal items onto the stage when he performed.

Philadelphia’s own Theodore DeReese "Teddy" Pendergrass, Sr. has exited the planet at the age of 59.

He started out as drummer for The Cadillacs. When that group later merged with the soul band “Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes,” Teddy’s true talents as a vocalist emerged.

If you never experienced the sound of Philadelphia (TSOP) from this band... here is a sample featuring Teddy:

He later went on to meteoric success as a soloist. Many felt that Teddy was on the verge of major crossover success. As you can see in the video below, he had women of all demographics watching him, completely mesmerized:

In 1982, a tragic automobile accident left him paralyzed from the waist down. That didn’t stop Teddy from performing, and he kept working up until his retirement in 2006... but reportedly remained active fund raising for charity and other pursuits.

More on the life of this great musician at Variety and  The Wall Street Journal.

Clean Your Face With Radioactivity

Yep... in the duck and cover 1950’s, they nuked a model’s face in order to show how well their cold cream works. Yikes! Check out this television commercial from a half-century ago.

R.I.P. Art Clokey

Detroit native Art Clokey, the creator of the venerable stop-motion animated character Gumby, has exited the planet.

Clokey originally created Gumby as a feature of the 1950’s Howdy Doody Show and eventually spun him off into a TV dynasty.

However, it wasn’t until Eddie Murphy created his version of Gumby on Saturday Night Live that Art Clokey actually started making money off of his creation... that was 40 years later!

Later, Clokey was hired by the Lutheran Church to create a show with a moral message.  The Davey and Goliath show was born.

Clokey was 88.  You can read more about this great animator in The Hollywood Reporter.  He will be missed... but his legacy will live on!

Mountain Doo Doo ?

According to The Food Poison Journal, the soft drinks you are getting from fountains in fast food restaurants and other places are likely to contain the bacteria found in... erm... fecal matter.

She was surrounded by family and friends at her departure. Our prayers for the Vice President and family.
